A Rhondda Fancy dress shop based in Porth is to close with the loss of 3 jobs due to the rise of the so called “Killer Clown Craze” sweeping the nation. The Wizard’s Sleeve fancy dress shop in Hannah Street, Porth, has been left with thousands of pounds worth of unsellable stock comprising mainly of clown outfits.
It’s absolutely ridiculous really, said the owner of the Wizard’s Sleeve, Mike Casagrande, “It’s health and safety gone mad, I just saw a poster for a Halloween disco in Ynyshir, and it said Strictly No Clown Outfits, I’ve got 750 to shift and nobody wants them.”
The Killer Clown craze, began in the United States and then spread to other countries, it has led to a spike in clown-related calls to police forces all over the UK, including the Rhondda.
Police have warned pranksters and criminals who use clown costumes to scare innocent members of the public that they could face arrest if identified.
Mr Casagrande went on to tell us that the fancy dress business was akin to playing the stock market, “You have to know how to play the game see.” said Mike, “You need to able to predict the latest trends. I got it right in previous years and made a killing on Jimmy Saville tracksuits and Elsa from Frozen dresses, but this year I just got it wrong.”
The Wizard’s Sleeve is yet another casualty in the long list of valley high street shops that have been forced to close over the past decade, mainly due to internet shopping and a rise in the number of local supermarkets. Rhondda pound shop entrepreneur, Steven Locke who has had his eye on the Wizard’s Sleeve for a while with the intention of buying the business told My Rhondda News, “I’ve had my eye on the Wizard’s Sleeve for a while with the intention of buying the business, maybe now I can get my hands on it cheap and sell everything for a pound.”

I see nothing wrong with the Killer Clowne craze. Seems to me like just a bit of harmless fun. The fact that the Wizards Sleave is now closing is awful. I talked to the owner and he said he seen it as a big opening for him – a huge gap in the market.

I’ll have a word with my boss about buying up all Wizards Slave clown outfits as a job lot. We’ve got so many clowns working here it might be a good idea to get them in uniform.
