Tribute Acts Stun Rhondda Fans At Heritage Park, But Event Nearly Marred By Lidl’s Prosecco Sale

Earlier today, some of the UK’s best tribute bands thrilled crowds at the Rhondda Heritage Park during The Tribute in the Park Festival, but the event got off to a slow start as those fans who queued for hours on Saturday to get their hands on boxes of cheap Prosecco from Lidl’s were turned away for attempting to bring the sparkling wine into the main arena.

A security consultant told My Rhondda News, “We were expecting this sort of thing after we saw the news reports about the queues of people trying to get their hands on this stuff.  I knew the locals would save a few bottles for our festival, so we upped security and increased searches, nobody never gets nothing past me.”

Thanks to the added security the event went off without a hitch with famous tribute bands such as In the Mix, a Little Mix tribute act, and the amazing Donna Marie as Lady GaGa showing their talents to the people of the Rhondda who enjoyed the added bonus of the sun coming out.  Jenna Wine, a local from Porth said, “It was amazing, I cant believe the sun came out as well, we usually have shite weather on bank holidays.”

Also thrilling the crowds were Bi-Curiosity Killed the Cat who did a splendid job covering hits such as ‘Down to Earth’ and ‘Name and Number’ made famous by Curiosity Killed the Cat in the eighties, but the act who stole the show were an Elbow tribute band called Arse with their amazing rendition of the hit song ‘One Day Like This’.

Mary Fringe, an Elbow super fan from Blaenllechau told us, “It’s absolutely ridiculous really, the Elbow cover band were brilliant, they sounded so much like the real band, I honestly couldn’t tell Arse from Elbow.”

Reginald Clunk from Drink Aware Rhondda told My Rhondda News that he felt the organisers had made the right decision by banning the Prosecco, “I feel that the organisers made the right decision by banning the Prosecco, especially as it was in glass bottles, things could have gone mental.” he said.
